ADT Expands Membership Opportunities - Supporting Organizations Invited to Show Ag Data Transparency Commitment

Transparency is at the heart of Ag Data Transparent (ADT), established in 2016. The not-for-profit organization focuses on providing information and services to assist farmers with understanding and evaluating contracts associated with collection, storage, transfer, and use of agricultural data. The need for this type of transparency continues to grow, and the organization has announced an expansion of its membership categories. Agricultural organizations who do not directly collect farm data - yet want to advocate for data transparency within their organization and in the agricultural industry - are now invited to join as a supporting member.

Historically, membership included Ag Tech companies who answer key questions to earn certification as well as farmer-led organizations who support transparency and provide leadership to the group. The new category of supporting membership enables all who support simplicity and transparency to be involved.

“Farmers’ concern over how their data is used is always top of mind and expanding our ADT membership categories enables us to continue our proactive work advancing transparency,” says Britt Raybould, ADT board president and former President of the National Potato Council and Chief Financial Officer at Raybould Brothers Farms. “Our Core Principles illustrate how industry-leading companies and organizations are working together to ensure farmers are confident in their data use.”

Benefits of supporting membership include:

  • Attending the annual meeting of the ADT members,

  • Joining ADT committees that work to shape the certification, model data use agreement, and other initiatives,

  • Eligibility for a seat on the ADT board of directors,

  • Being featured in the ADT newsletter, and

  • Helping shape the future of the organization.

“We encourage ag organizations who support data transparency to raise their hands to be involved with ADT,” says Todd Janzen, ADT administrator and partner at Janzen Schroeder Ag Law. “Your voice can help shape the conversation about data use to impact all of agriculture.”
