Manitoba Co-Operator Article "Who Owns Data?" Highlights ADT Principles

Who owns farm data? This question was posed in a recent article by Jeff Melchior in the Manitoba Co-Operator. As agriculture’s digital age advances, farmers must navigate complicated contracts and legal terms to truly understand how the data being generated by their operations is used and who benefits.

As the article states: “Farmers have been told that digital agriculture and precision farming, driven by data, will make them more efficient, profitable and will be a public relations win environmentally, but there are also questions about who owns the data that farms are increasingly generating, and who benefits.”

That’s why companies seek ADT certification - to be totally transparent with farmers about how their data is being used. Our members stand firm behind the fact that farmers own their data, and our ADT Principles guide data use. The ADT homepage features each member’s answers to key questions about how their customers’ data is handled.

ADT is proud to be highlighted as a resource for farmers as they continue to tap technology and advance agriculture.
